Mom Loves Shelby the best: sayeth Shelby

November 22,2009
WEll we are at REid and Mandy's for the last few days. They left for Mexico early Friday am. so we are taking care of the three boys. Kaydon went with mom and dad. Jake was having a very difficult time not sure if the tears were that mom and dad were leaving him behind or that he wouldn't see them again. Anyway, we awoke to crying. I went and talked to him and said he needed to be a big brave boy and he sucked it up and that was the end of it. HE has been fine ever since but this is just Sun so maybe by Thurs he maybe be getting lonely again. It has been a busy few days, and really the timing was great for Reid and MAndy to be away as our ceilings are being scraped and sprayed. Well they promised that they would be done by Monday night,so we will see. We will then be able to put furniture back in our house and have a place to sit down. Anyway I think this is the start of putting things back together. I'm sure I will have alot of dust to deal with Tuesday. But I know things have to get worse before they get better. Soon we will be off to Mexico. My dad is in hospital having tests, he has no energy and sleeps and sleeps. He is getting very weak. Larry and Heather are going out Monday. They had this trip booked for some time so that will be good. Auntie Pauline may have to have some home care for him for a while. Hard when they are so far away. Anyway this grandma should hit the sack as my boys have gone to bed. Nice to have little boys again but life is very busy, one forgets how much they can eat but they have lots of energy to burn off. Good nite to all. Sandi

To much to do and not enough time

Does anyone else have this problem. Someone mentioned the other night about the blogs not up dated. Well I'm guilty. Sorry, but some days there just isn't enough time to do what one has to do and needs to do. Anyway we have lots of projects going at our house, ( kitchen renos, laundry room that still isn't painted yet, trims ordered to be up on upstairs)work to do at the shop and in my home office, craft nites to get to, cardmaking, candle parties, so much to do and not enough time. I really need to do some hospital visits. Sorry I can't share any pictures as i have lost my camera. I do have a old one but have to figure it out again. About our craft nights there are a few of us girls getting together and doing crafts, any craft just come and relax and enjoy. Seeing these young girls cross stitching, knitting they have inspired me to get back to some of those crafts that I use to do. I think they would be fun again. WE take turns at each others house, do some work, share a few stories, laughs and have coffee and goodies. I think I as the oldest one there but I am , thrilled to be invited. One always needs a night off. Well all for now. Will try and take some pictures soon. Sandi

I'm a grandma again...

Well today at about 6:36 tonight we have a new granddaughter. Her name is Kanya Annabell. She is a tiny bundle about 5 pounds and 5 ozs. She was about 3 weeks early. Mom and Dad are doing fine. We had a little peak tonight. Zara was there as well with Grandpa and Grandma Pearman but didn't seem to interested in her new sister. Give her time and she will understand that she is to stay. Anyway just wanted to share our good news. Sandi

Lunch with our dear friends from Newfoundland

We had about 1 1/2 hours with these folks to catch up on our lives. We use to be with Barry and Cynthia probably every night about 29-30 years ago. We don't get the opportunity to be with them very often but always have a great time together when we get the chance. They had just been to there daughters wedding in Canmore.
Karen from Ontario.(Stacy's Mother-in-Law) and Betty.
Derek and Betty --Barrys folks. Sorry that picture was really blurry.Their Kids-- In the back Jessica and Tyler from Red Deer, Stacy on right and bride on left and then Cynthia's cousin. Maybe we will see them more often as they have 2 kids living in Ab now.

Finished Tool Shed

Finally, I have a tool shed to store all of my gardening tools in. It seems that every spring I never can find my tools in my husbands garage. Year after year I end up buying new tools so now that shouldn't be a problem. Maybe just maybe I'll have things when I need them. One can only hope that this will work. Maybe I'll be able to save some money. Probably not as will just buy more flowers.

The painting is all done. Although not all that happy with the color in the end. They grey was suppose to be a tan color but doesn't look tan to me but I was to lazy to start again. SO that will have to due for this year or til it needs to be painting again.
Next painting job is my laundry room, do these painting jobs ever end. NO Sandi

My Trip To B.C.

Ernie and I went for a week away. It was a beautiful time to travel no people and no traffic and lots of nice fall scenery. With many hours to travel we had time to chat, read and I could stitch. I even got the 2 blocks stitched that I took along to do. We went to Penticton to see his folks and then went to Abbotsford to see my dad and Auntie Pauline(my stepmom). From Penticton went south to the border and drove the USA roads to the coast. Dad and me

Dad and Aunties home

Some of the great things about being away by ourselves (with no kids to contend with)is stopping at a few place's that we like to stop at Quilts shops, hobby shops, coffee shops. (I have a very patient husband who patiently reads a book while I shop.)
Hamels in Chilliwack A new quilt shop just opened up in the country.

Coffee shops ( in Winthrop,WA)

Town of Winthrop,WATook the scenic route through the Cascades. It is a cool road but very twisty and lots of tight turns. I haven't been car sick for a long time but managed to feel a little bit woosy a few times on that drive. We stopped to get some fresh air and this is the picture we saw. In this little area is three dams. The water was such a pretty color. Cascade highway is south of Osooyoos in WA, USA
One day we took Dad and Pauline for a trip with us down memory lane. We decided to go and see where Ernie boarded in Langley. Then we went to check out Silverdale Conv Grounds. The house's and property were pretty run down and overgrown. At first we missed Silverdale altogether. We drove right past the property that once was so familiar to Ernie. His grandparents lived there and he spent lots of time there.
Alf and Agnes house

Barn and fields

We also on the way home drove past my auntie Mabels house in Revelstoke. I spent many holidays there, as that was really the only place we went for a holiday. (visiting my moms family) I don't think anyone was living there at this time. It is always fun going down memory lane and remembering all of the good memories that the the lane brings. Sandi

Fall Happenings and Hobbies In Pprocess

Wow! Has it been that long since I updated this blog.. Where do the days slip by... I will update mine so that my girls will follow and update theirs. HINT hint. I love this time of year as all the new and exciting projects come out. I have about 4 quilts on the go and 2 quilts that just need a binding to finish. What is my problem why do I want to take on more.. But it is so exciting starting but then the process gets boring sometimes. (Just the way I am) But it is always a good to get something finished. So thought that I'd show some of my work in process.
This quilt is done but just hand quilting it now.

These two are in the stitching projects in process.

We had our first over night with this little girlie. She is a busy one but was so much fun. With Zara you just have to entertain her with a lot of bags filled with bottles of this and that, few tubes of lip gloss and lotions. So that was easy. Who needs toys.

Updated family pictures we took on Sunday.

A few new hobbies and some of the Olson's

So that's all for today. Sandi

A Pleasant Surprise!!

As most of you know Sunday around the Olsons house is full of olsons and there little ones for lunch. We all pitch in and have dinner together.
Today this is what my dear son Wade and daughter-in law Tara brought me beautiful lillies. I do love flowers so that made my day.

WE have had a busy summer and I'm wondering where did it go, as Tues. Shelby goes off to the Big High School for her first day. It is just to pay fees and find her way around. Pretty scary for her. Lane goes back Wed. Class's start THUR.

We had so much planned to do this smmer, like going to the beach, bike rides, parks to visit,(Calaway,Heritage,Riley) but sad to say that didn't happen. Did everyone else's summergo by as fast as ours?? We spent alot of time painting on our rental prop well every nice day we had. Glad to report that it is almost done, Thanks to KEl, Duncan who gave us a hand climbing up ladders on Sat. to paint the high places that I wouldnt go any more. I use to climb up long ladders but now feel that is for the young. I know I'm showing my age.

It seems everyday my job list get added to but don't feel I'm making much progress on the lists already started, as we know it will soon be fall and we will be putting our plants to sleep for the winter Yak!! At this time of year one gets tired of keeping the flowers watered and fertizied. I really need to take some time and split plants and move them around so next year they will do better. But soon I will have more time I hope for card making, quilting scrapbooking with the girls.. At least I have alot of projects that I want to do. Don't groan Shelby. She thinks I just like the starting process and that is true but want to get some of them finished. Will get some pictures of my projects that need alittle work to finally be done. Must stop as don't want this to be to boring for others to read. S.

Why I'm Blogging....

Well, I love to read others blogs and find out what is going on in there busy lives so I guess it is only fair that I share mine. Life is busy in the Olson house so will let you know some of what is going on. Soon the kids will be back to school. We have started some reno's at our house so when I can figure out how to post some pictures I will have them on for you to see. We have redone our laundry area, put in new cupboards etc now I need to get the painting done and then I will show you the finished job. We also have taken out a wall in our living rm and will soon be taking out our kitchen to redo that, that will be a huge job, one that I'm not looking forward to, well the end result I am but not the mess. We have just been camping for a week with the Mark Olsons in B.C. A camp site a hour away from Fernie. Was nice to be with everyone but was windy and rainy. But anytime away from home, and all jobs of home is a treat.
